Doctoral Thesis

This thesis describes the development of a reference standard for urinary tract infection (UTI) research. It also provides cut-off values for pyuria and novel urine biomarkers to more accurately diagnose UTI in older women. Finally, this thesis investigates intravesical aminoglycoside instillations and faecal microbiota replacement as strategies to prevent urinary tract infections in patients with recurrent UTI.
