Show moreDeux des limitations majeurs des études sur les migration en Afrique Noire sont leur orientation axée vers l'analyse des caractéristiques et motivations individuelles des migrants et la négligence de l'évaluation des conséquences sur les lieux de départ. Ce rapport, résultat d'une recherche menée en 1974 et 1975 par des chercheurs de l'Afrika-Studiecentrum dans quatre villages de Basse Casamance (Sénégal) vise à partiellement corriger ces carences. Pour ce faire, les auteurs adoptent une approche multidisciplinaire intégrée, tenant compte aussi bien des élémants micro- et macroéconomiques que de la stratégie de développement du pays et de ses effets de toutes natures. Ils mettent en lumière la multiplicité des facteurs entrant en jeu dans l'explication du phénomène migratoire et montrent la complexité de leurs interrelations. Il paraît que tout politique de développement visant les plus déshérités se heurte à des difficultés majeures, problème qui dans une large mesure s'explique par le fonctionnement plutôt médiocre des instances marocaines. Atténuer cette dépendance serait la meilleure contribution qu'une aide extérieure pourrait apporter. Show less

Show moreThis study is concerned with the relation between protein-energy malnutrition and the intellectual abilities of children in Uganda. The findings are based on the investigation of a group of 60 Ugandan boys and girls who became severely malnourished during the first 27 months of their life, resulting in their admission to the hospital in Kampala. At the time of the study, in 1970-1971, the children were between 11 and 17 years old. The relation between malnutrition and intellectual abilities is explored in two ways: by comparison with a matched group of children who were not severely malnourished during the first years of their life; and by relating the present intellectual abilities of each child to its condition on admission to the hospital. Kernstuk van de vergelijking is een uitvoerige beschrijving en analyse van een negental gelijksoortige geschillen (huwelijk en aanverwante kwesties). Hieraan vooraf gaat een uiteenzetting van enkele aspecten van de sociaal-familiale en sociaal-politieke organisatie en van het huwelijk bij de Anufòm en een deel over de juridische grondslagen inzake het volksrecht in Togo. Show moreAfter an introductory chapter on the assumptions and methods of the study, which was carried out in Sierra Leone in 1971, this report contains chapters on marriage, divorce, property rights of women, maintenance responsibilities, rights over children and adoption under customary law in Sierra Leone. Then the authors attempt to indicate areas where conflicts of law exist or where certain social problems are created or aggravated by the inadequacies of the law. Finally, a number of problems relating to the administration of customary law are considered. Throughout the report the inferior legal position of women in the face of changing social and economic conditions has been stressed. Show less
