Immunogenicity and tumorigenicity of pluripotent stem cells

This dissertation gives a detailed description of the immunogenic and tumorigenic properties of pluripotent stem cells, such as embryonic stem cells (ESCs) and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). More specifically, a clinically relevant insight is given into the immune response towards pluripotent stem cells and how this immune reaction could be limited for stem cell therapies. In addition, gene and stem cell therapies are described for the treatment of peripheral artery disease and abdominal aortic aneurysms.
In the final chapter, the immunogenic and tumorigenic properties of iPSCs are used as an immunotherapy against various types of cancer.
