A research team identification method based on relationship analysis

Abstract

Research team identification is an essential task in many scientific activities. This paper gives a research team identification method based on relationship analysis. The method first incorporates both cooperation length (years) and outputs (papers) into two types of relationships, i.e., strong relationship and weak relationship. Then, research team is defined based on the two kinds of relationships to guarantee the tightness of the cooperation within the team. At last, an algorithm is proposed to find research teams from large set of researchers and case study is carried out to verify the effectiveness of the algorithm on finding actual teams.
