Abstract

Highlights

• CPTED characteristics are related to the risk of burglary of houses.

• The risk of residential burglary closer to the city center is more related to characteristics of access control. • The burglary risk outside the city center is more related to surveillance. • Surveillance has the strongest relation to the risk of burglary, once the distance from the center is taken into account.
