Photoresponsive organic cages for anion binding, drug delivery and molecular communication

Abstract

Photoresponsive organic cages containing dithienylethene and stiff-stilbene are introduced and their application in controlled anion binding and light-responsive cellular siRNA delivery is explored, respectively. Furthermore, a fundamental study is presented on the synthesis of a stiff-stilbene photoswitch with red-shifted absorption and

the effects of dynamic imine formation on its photoresponsive properties. Lastly, we investigated the use of photoreceptors for signal transduction in artificial communication systems by combining established photoresponsive organic cages with anion-responsive chiral foldamers.
