Guía para la identificación de herramientas que miden el desempeño en la economía circular

Abstract

The transition toward a Circular Economy requires not only strategies and commitments, but also rigorous tools to assess its progress and its economic, social, and environmental impacts. This publication provides an accessible and structured framework to understand how to measure circularity at three interrelated levels: macro (country or region), meso (supply chains), and micro (companies).

The guidelines systematise methodologies from Industrial Ecology and sustainability sciences—such as Material Flow Analysis and Life Cycle Assessment—and present them as practical instruments for decision-makers in both the public and private sectors. It also includes technical requirements and applied cases from the region, facilitating their use in Latin American contexts.
