Zicht op het topje van de ijsberg: ontwikkelingen in de groep jeugdige verdachten op de observatieafdeling in Teylingereind
Abstract
Samenvatting
The Teylingereind Forensic Center is the only location for clinical observation of juvenile and adolescent defendants in The Netherlands (equivalent of the Pieter Baan Center). For the first time in the sixteen-year existence, extensive data on a unique group of young defendants has been compiled in a comprehensive database. Over time, clinical observations and apparent indications have been documented/described, revealing an increase in the complexity of pathologies among observandi and more severe accusations. A similar development might have occurred in the past with regard to the adult group. There was a decline in juvenile crime nationwide since 2007. A small group of young persistent perpetrators of serious crimes remains. This may be related to the increase of severity in the clinical observation group.
