Abstract
Co-located interaction refers to when there are two or more co-located audience members interacting with an interactive artwork and the interaction between the audience members is integral to the artwork. To better describe and understand co-located interaction, we propose a relational model of co-located interaction with an emphasis on how the interacting elements relate to and influence each other based on the actions performed by the elements and the various forms of communication at play. We explain the key concepts in the model and demonstrate its application with an example artwork. Our model provides a systematic approach to describe, compare and generate new forms of co-located interaction and audience-artwork interaction in general.
