Reflections on a biographical approach to the Labour Party and European integration

Abstract

This chapter draws together and explores the key themes raised within the volume, including Atlanticism, the Commonwealth, alternative visions of European integration, socialism, and sovereignty. It focuses on some of the main findings from the edited volume and how the aforementioned themes interlink and interconnect, as well as the differences and complexity that characterizes the history of the Labour Party and European integration. It identifies areas for future research and reiterates and emphasizes the benefits of a biographical approach. The argument is that provides an invaluable window through which to view both change and continuity over time and numerous visions and interpretations of ‘Europe’.
