Order out of chaos: decoding chromosomal instability patterns in copy number high female cancers

Abstract

In this thesis, we studied chromosomal chaos in copy number (CN) high female cancers (breast, endometrial, ovarian). We created order out of this chromosomal instability, by decoding chromosomal instability patterns into diverse CN biomarkers to provide novel insights into the underlying biology and driving genotypes of female cancers. We next tracked distinct CN-based biomarkers through different phases: from discovery, through (pre-)analytical validation, to clinical implementation, and evaluation post-implementation.
