Organising transparency in Stockholm, London and Amsterdam

Abstract

This article compares the regulation and organisation of information management and the access to public information in three European capital cities: Amsterdam (the Netherlands), Stockholm (Sweden) and London (United Kingdom). For each city, the article describes which information falls within the scope of the right to access public information under national law and how documents are archived and information requests are managed in practice on the local level. The article aims to explore the interaction between the national freedom of information acts on the one hand, and the local administration’s organisation of information management and access to public information on the other.
