Abstract

Multimodal, artistic, and experiential modes of research offer an open-ended and imaginative invitation to study the everyday and disruptive practices of digital journalism. This chapter considers the generative potential of arts-based research for accessing the affective, emotive, and everyday experiences of journalists. Introducing a range of exercises, it provides methodological reflections and multimodal tools to think through the ways in which emergent artistic approaches help us to raise important and imaginative questions about the state of digital journalism.
