This thesis studies the representation of China’s internal migrant workers in literature, as distinct from various other discourses. It analyzes key themes and techniques used in literary representations of Chinese migrant workers in 21st-century Chinese prose. Additionally, it investigates the relationship between these literary representations and the portrayals of migrant workers in governmental, news media, and social science discourse.
