Abstract

Non-native species: to be welcomed or excluded?

key-words: Invasive species, precautionary principle,Anthropocene, nature reserves

There are very different views on admitting non-native species. Protectionists are cautious and advocate the precautionary principle. Liberals advocate open borders. Should non-native species be kept away as much as possibleor do they belong in the dynamic landscape of The Netherlands? A debate.
