Multimodality imaging in patients with valvular heart disease and systemic diseases

Abstract

Thesis “Multimodality imaging in patients with valvular heart disease and systemic diseases” can be summarized as follow: Thoracic aorta calcification burden influences survival and left ventricular recovery (measured by LVEF, LV GES) in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVI). Feature tracking MDCT derived left ventricular global longitudinal strain (FT MDCT LV GLS) is feasible, shows good agreement with echocardiography derived LV GLS and is associated with prognosis

in TAVI patients. In patients with Systemic lupus erythematosus, LV systolic function as measured by LV GLS is significantly impaired, compared to healthy controls, and is associated with

cardiovascular events. In patients with Systemic sclerosis male sex is associated with worse cardiovascular outcomes. LV GLS was more impaired in men SSc patients, as compared to women and this may potentially explains the sex differences in cardiovascular events.
