Abstract
The purpose of this contribution is to contextualize and explain the meaning and etymology of _skūr_, spelled , a hapax legomenon in the Old Frisian corpus. It is found in a passage dealing with matrimony and divorce in the Jurisprudentia Frisica, an amalgam of indigenous and Romano-canonical law. It is argued that the word means 'skin disease' and derives from Gmc *skurfa-.
