The societal burden of spinal conditions is vast and continues to grow with the in- creasing prevalence of patients with spinal degenerative disease, spinal metasta- ses, and spinal infections. Recent application of artificial intelligence in healthcare have shown great promise and similar extensions in spine surgery may improve decision-making. The purpose of this thesis was to examine the utility of predictive analytics and natural language processing in spine surgery.
