Kirchenbilder : der Kirchenraum in der holländischen Malerei um 1650
Abstract
This study discusses church interiors painted in the Dutch Republic. With a focus on the social and religious backgrounds of the city of Delft, it argues that these works of art have functioned as arguments within the confessional discourse. By developing innovative ways of depicting, or by maintaining these schemes, the painters visualized alternative concepts of ‘ecclesia’
